Determine if your pet is infected with tapeworms. Look for evidence of tapeworms by inspecting your pet's rear end and stool: tapeworm segments are small, white and flat, resembling grains of rice.
Avoid using over-the-counter de-wormers. Most of these products do not contain the ingredients necessary for killing tapeworms.
Make an appointment with your veterinarian to get your pet de-wormed.
Know that treatment is simple and in most cases extremely effective. Your pet will be given either a drug or an injection that kills tapeworm and doesn't cause side effects.
