Prefontaine the Brittany
Prefontaine's mom says: Prefontaine was named after Steve Prefontaine, one of America's greatest distance running legends, who, at one time, held every American track and field record from the 2,000 to the 10,000m. We wanted a dog that we could run with, as we both enjoy distance running. We chose a Brittany because of their ability to run and found a breeder about 3 hours from where we live. When we arrived to look at the 7 week old puppies, Pre was the first puppy to greet us- he ran up and promptly sat at our feet looking up at us and never left our side. He chose us! We took him home the following week, introduced him to sister Belle, the Beagle and life has never been the same! Pre plays hard during the day and sleeps just as hard at night (we call it PREcharging!). He loves to curl up and fall asleep in our lap each night. Every morning he has puppy school where he brushes up on his commands and tricks. Pre can sit, stay, "touch it", shake, lay down and come when called -all for treats of course! "Kennel up!" is his favorite command because he knows it is breakfast time! He loves going for a drive to the park, sunning in the backyard and taking Daddy for his daily walks. Pre will even walk his own leash or sister Belle's leash. Chasing butterflies, spiders and his own nubby tail has become a recent favorite. Pre is part water buffalo- he will drink/spill an entire bowl of water in one standing, wait for the bowl to be refilled and continue drinking! He has eliminated the need for mopping the floors because he spills so much water! Pre is quickly learning to swim and will fetch sticks and his tennis ball when thrown in the pond at the park. Everyone Pre meets is an immediate friend and if his nubbin tail weren't secured so tightly, it might wag itself off! We are amazed at how smart Pre is and how fast of a runner he is becoming! Pre has become a wonderful addition to our family and every day is a new adventure with him!
He clearly ran right to your heart. And he'll leave far too soon, too - they all do. Two tons of cookies.

Pre's soulful eyes look right through you. When he grows up, you will be hard pressed to keep up with him. Growing up, we had a neighbor who was owned by a pair of Brittany's. They were easy to spot, always together and always in the water. Many, many happy years together. All the best.

Pre, you are a very handsome fellow!!!! So glad your family found you and you let them know you were theirs!! We just got a year old Brittiany last summer named Molly. Her previous owner had given her back to the breeder because he had terminal cancer. Told her to give Molly to a good home and we are it!! She is still very much a puppy, loves to run, hassle the littler dogs, go in the truck with her Dad, and is just full of life. Brittiany dogs are a joy to have. Molly is our second. Best of luck with Pre, may he have a long, happy, fun filled, healthy life and share "his joy of living" with you for many years. Congratulations on getting a winner!!

Pre is so beautiful! My uncle had a Brittany and she was SO smart! She was trained as a hunting dog and she was one of the best. I am sure that Pre will be a very precious possession (or possessor...)

Lucky you! I had a Brittany - Diana - many years ago. What a dog! You are right when you say they are fast. My Diana almost caught a squirrel while they were both sprinting. She was neck and neck with that squirrel for ten yards before it got to a tree and escaped.

We lived in a rural area 20 years ago, so dogs were "dropped off" by THOSE types of humans who would heartlessly dump their pet. The purebred Brittany spaniel who we named Molly made her way to our back yard on Easter week-end. Although all doggies are perfect, Molly was the most beautiful example of God's creation I could imagine. She adored us, we adored her, but the fit you have with Prefontaine is much, much more preferable for a Brittany. By that, I mean Molly was a very active girl who would have LOVED a family of runners and it was the busiest, teenager, working full time, senior grandparents to mind, long commute to work ... time of our life. Good thing we lived on a forest with a pond so Moll could burn off her excessive energy. It would have been better for her if she could have done it with company, like your heavenly puppy. I trust she doesn't hold it against us.
Your little man has landed in his perfect, forever home. Brittany spaniels are beautiful animals. Bless 'em all.

Oh my gosh he is adorable!! He has such pretty eyes too! My lab mix LOVES brits when we encounter them at the dog park - mostly because they can run around together at top speed!
I love when they expose those fat lil tummies with no hair!!! Every day before work I give my pup several tum kisses and he is left with kiss marks all over his belly. Nothing is cuter than that shot:)
Is it possible that Pre is living in Texas? Couldn't tell it by the Blue Bonnet picture. Well, he sure is a handsome little guy and I'm sure he will bring great joy and love to your lives for years to come. Please take very good care of him!
If ever there was a dog for runners, it's a Brittany. My brother has one, and we had the pleasure of taking care of him for a year. He would run so fast, he'd beat the ball to where you were throwing it and have to run back to it!!! And yes, you'll have many more years of trailing after the dog with a towel after they drink water ^__^ But they'll love you to the end. Even when we don't see Biscuit in a long time, he remembers all of us and gives us lots of love. Enjoy your little guy, he'll bring you lots of joy and laughs!!

This is one of the most beautiful puppies I have ever seen! I had a Brittany, "Buddy" for twelve years and I lost him in June of 2006. There is hardly a day that goes by that I don't miss him. oh this little guy... you are killing me with puppy cuteness... and the PUPPY BELLY!!! UGH!!! I love puppy bellies!!! they are just oh so adorable when they are all fully displayed and fat and happy... he's is so precious... he looks just exactly like my Nick did... I had a beautiful Brittany when i was growing up on the farm i grew up on... i had a whole slew of dogs and cats but Nick was my favorite dog... he lived to be a ripe old age of 19... a VERY long life for a dog... his pups (Half beagle and half Brittany) lived just as long as he did... we buried Mickey this last Fall... they hardest thing I ever did... I hope you have many many long happy years with this beautiful boy... and might as well forget abut ever having a dry floor LOL... Brits LOVE THE water... you can't keep then out of it...

These dogs are smart, strong, and faithful. I had one I gave to a friend because I didn't have the energy to keep up with him. Pre will likely have you struggling to try to keep up with him too in years to come.
